Juneau Voices Story Box
2020- 2021

Juneau Voices Audio Walk is a series of location-specific, place-based sound installations, featuring stories and memories told by Juneau residents who lived them. Each sound installation is linked to a sign downtown. Experienced as a sequential journey, they add up to a walk through the past and a spotlight on untold histories from Dzantikʼihéeni, Juneau. To experience Juneau Voices, visit here. Juneau Voices is a project of the City & Borough of Juneau with Ping Chong + Company, and was developed by artists Ryan Conarro and Lillian Petershoare.

I collaborated with Ryan and Lillian to create the Juneau Voices Story Box: a collection of audio portraits of the many Juneau community members who participated in the Juneau Voices process. Only a small number of stories could be shared via the audio walk; the Story Box contains many more. These are personal and community stories of change, persistence, of learning and growth. Access the Juneau Voices Story Box here.
